Lacey Township & Brick Crawl Space Transformations

Homes along the Jersey Shore are more prone to issues due to excess moisture like mold growth, high humidity, wood rot, and more. This is especially true for homes with basements and crawl spaces. Much of this is due to New Jersey’s higher humidity and our proximity to the shore and ocean air. In this week’s Before & After Series, we are going to show you some of our recent crawl space transformations in a couple of homes that we’ve previously serviced:

Before & After — Lacey Township

This is the home of a customer that we’ve been working with for a few years now. After monitoring their crawl space through our routine evaluations, we had noticed some significant changes over time that required us to perform the following services this year:

• A ground clean out to remove debris and the old vapor barrier.
• Installed a 12-mil sting reinforced vapor barrier to the floors, walls, & pillars.
• Changed out the air filter in the dehumidifier.
• Raised the grade of the crawl space using approximately 8.5 tons of ⅜” pea gravel.

Before & After — Brick

This customer initially reached out to us in 2020 to replace her old crawl space opening with something more sturdy and secure to protect her home. Now months later, we returned to perform the following services inside of the crawl space to address the moisture issues:

• A ground clean out to remove debris and old insulation.
• A full mold treatment to kill existing mold and prevent future mold growth.
• Installed a 12-mil string reinforced vapor barrier to the floors.
• Installed R19 encapsulated insulation.
• Tacked up hanging wires (where applicable).
